The Toolbox of Writing
While reading Stephen King's On Writing about the toolbox of writing, I found that his metaphor was extremely similar to the metaphor that I expanded on for my application into Honors English when I first came into this High School as a Freshman. I could relate to his thoughts because I feel like writing is much like painting - you have your toolbox, guiding hands of teachers as you hold your paintbrush, and your paintings can reflect those that are idolized in museums. Eventually, if your writings (paintings) achieve a level of excellence, you can be the author (artist) of the paintings that many people admire in art museums. This writing was extremely familiar to me, however interesting at the same time because I hadn't considered all of the ideas presented in this piece.
