the oscars

For me, the Oscars isn't about the awards, but rather the E! Red Carpet Special. However, this year on the Red Carpet, there was a surprise. Sacha Baron Cohen was dressed as a dictator to promote his movie The Dictator. As Ryan Seacrest was interviewing him, Sacha threw "ashes of former North Korean ruler Kim Jong-Il on his Burberry suit. Apparently, it was not rash, in fact it was planned and he was aware of the consequences. Ryan was not querulous, and handled it like a grown man by not whining and simply changing suits. Today, the tabloids are filled with pejorative remarks about Sachas behavior, even though I thought it was funny.

little stevies childhood

After reading Steven Kings On Writing stories about his childhood, I decided that I liked "illness and death" the most. Although this was not the funniest, most embarrassing, nor interesting story, it was the one that hit my heart. Today is February 15th 2012. On February 14th 2002, my grandmother passed away. Yesterday was Valentines Day. The first Valentines Day I had a boyfriend, a rose given to me, and someone to actually call my valentines. It was also the first Valentines Day I had taken the time to think about the loss of my Grandmother. I decided that this was my favorite story once I read the last line "there was no more breaths and it was all pause"(94). This is because from what I remember of my being told my Grandmother passed away ten years and one day ago, I remember loosing my breath and feeling quiet for once. I am loud, I am talkative, and I smile just as often as I breathe. This was one of the moments I was speechless, left in silence. This made me feel connected to King because this was the only excerpt I had read of his that did not make me laugh. I think that this is because he is much like me - usually he is sarcastic, cracking jokes, and making fun. When he wrote about things that were normal to him, he was himself. But a change like this altered his writing style, much like my experience changed me. Even though this story didn't make me double over in laughter and cry of happiness, it made me feel a connection with an author that had seemed so distant before.

#superbowlsunday

My favorite part of #superbowlsunday was the commercials. The commercial with the fat dog had my family and I laughing out loud. The company that put it together was extremely fastidious. The dog was not only adorable but effervescent and well trained. If I were buying a car, I would probably look into Fiat because the commercial was so captivating.
