voh-kab-yuh-ler-ee

Some people get ESPN updates sent to their phones, others get New York Times alerts delivered to their e-mail whenever a news worthy event occurs, but I am not one of these people. I'm the one who receives dictionary.com's word of the day sent directly to my Blackberry each morning so I wake up to something interesting. Each day a new word with it's origin and definition is sent to my phone, reminding me that there is so much more to learn than I will ever know and it all starts at the foundation of our language: vocabulary.
Vocabulary is the basis of all forms of communication, whether it be writing, reading, chatting, texting, or even singing - humans get their point across using words. I find that having a wide-ranged vocabulary makes every student brighter, every song more captivating, every book more enhancing, and individuals stronger in the field which they excel in. While reading an article, book, or skimming the headlines of the newspaper I'm always on my feet looking out for new words that are unfamiliar to my eyes. Even though I will not know the entire English dictionary by heart, with each morning starting with one new word, I hope that as I grow my vocabulary will grow alongside it, making me a more intelligent person as each morning starting with one new word and one new meaning. As my url says...I really am living and learning.

and if you were wondering - the word of the day is gammon: to decieve
